An individual, subsequently taken into custody for allegedly assaulting law enforcement with a food item, engages with customs and government officials.

A federal customs official has testified he could sense through his ballistic vest the impact of a sandwich hurled at him by a DC demonstrator, who has gone on trial for criminal charge.

Federal border agent the government official told the legal jury the snack "shattered all over him" and he "noticed the aromatic vegetables and mustard" on his uniform.

No party disputes that the defendant, 37, did in fact throw vulgar language and a deli-style sandwich at authorities assigned by the former president to secure the nation's capital in the summer month.

The occurrence was recorded on recording and spread across the internet, making the accused a representation of opposition in the capital to the former president.

Government prosecutors at first tried to achieve major offense allegations against Mr Dunn, but a grand jury refused to charge him.

The former president's assignment of armed forces to Washington DC this season generated protest from some of the DC citizens, who saw it as a political use of the armed forces.

Per charging documents, the accused came near a police contingent at about 23:00 on 10 August, calling them "fascists" and yelling: "Why are you here? Your presence is unwanted in my city!"

The trial observed a reenactment from the agent on Tuesday as he gave evidence against Mr Dunn.

"I detected it through my ballistic vest," he stated of the sandwich's impact, mentioning that an vegetable piece hung from his official equipment and sauce discolored his shirt.

The accused's lawyer, Julia Gatto, argued in her opening statement that launching the deli product was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, result in harm".

But prosecutor the state's representative maintained the accused must be held accountable.

"Regardless of identity, you can't just go around throwing stuff at others because you're mad," the prosecutor said.

Subsequent to the claimed attack was revealed, Mr Dunn was fired from his position as a legal assistant in the federal legal agency.
